Travel Books for Kids

We are huge book fans in this house and travel books are always a favorite!  Every time we plan a trip, we make sure to get some books about our travel destination. It helps us prepare Milana for the trip and she knows what to expect when we arrive at the destination. Here are some of our favorites. If you click on the book picture, it will take you to Amazon, where you can purchase it.

  1. Oh boy, they have so many categories of books, section-wise. I had no idea that kiddies’ travel books could be found in such fancy packaging and variety. Looks like some catchy means of educating children on the go. Cheers!!

  2. Mom and dad taught me to love books and travels since when I was a little girl. In future I want to do the same with my children! This post will be very useful, thank you!

  3. I had no idea there were Lonely Planet Kids books. It’s a great idea to teach kids about where they are going and what to expect before they go. My daughter loves the pop up books so something like this would be perfect for her.

  4. Hey Maggie. This is such a great list. I need to put something like this together myself. I had a few people ask me for books and I had a hard time finding books for some reason. I see a few of our favorites on your list. Glad Milana loves reading. So does Aiden.

  5. This is such a great selection for kids. I can imagine these books gives kids a better appreciation of the destinations they visit. I wish they had these when I was a young.

  6. We have a similar tradition with books, except that we buy them at the destination. Sometimes just finding a children’s book becomes an adventure (think Caribbean ports where they look at you as if you’re crazy asking for books! Rum they understand, kids books — not so much lol).

I originally found your blog by looking for travel-themed cake ideas through Google. Now I’m seeing a lot of similarities: we have some of the same books on our book shelves, we keep travel journals for our kids (even similar site names!), and you’ve even visited our home town with Milana 🙂 I just need to find more time to finish writing up all of our trips.
