Heading to Cabo San Lucas with kids? Cabo San Lucas, a stunning resort town at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, is a destination that’s often associated with vibrant nightlife and romantic getaways. However, this tropical paradise also has a lot to offer for families looking to create lasting memories with their children. With its breathtaking beaches, outdoor adventures, and family-friendly attractions, Cabo is the perfect destination for a vacation that caters to kids of all ages.
Cabo San Lucas is one of the best places in Mexico for a family vacation. It’s a perfect destination for visiting families with young kids. With lots of family friendly resorts to choose from, a cute downtown and lots of great food, you’re sure to have a great family trip to Cabo! We have taken our daughter to Cabo from the time she was an infant so we have tips for visiting Cabos with babies, toddlers and children of all ages!
Where to stay in Cabo San Lucas with kids
We have been to Cabo San Lucas with kids multiple times and have stayed at multiple family friendly Cabo hotels. Most recently, we stayed at the Hyatt Ziva, an all inclusive resort. The Hyatt Ziva in Cabo is ery family friendly with several restaurants on site and lots of family friendly activities. They have a kids pool area with slides and a kids club with activities throughout the day.
Now I will say this and I know this will be an unpopular opinion. But the food at the Hyatt Ziva was awful! We were actually shocked at how bad it was. We normally don’t stay at all inclusive resorts because of the food and we did go out a few times for dinner at local restaurants while staying here.

We have also stayed at the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort and it was perfect. The property was beautiful, the pool was awesome (even had a little area with shallow water for small kids to play in) and our room was very nice. The only downside is the location, it’s a little bit down from the downtown area, however we had a rental car so that didn’t really deter us much. You definitely can’t walk anywhere when staying at this hotel!

And we have also stayed at the Westin Los Cabos Resort Villas. This is a timeshare resort however you can also book rooms without being a timeshare owner. This resort has multiple pools, a kids club and a kids pool area.

If you want to know what other hotels and vacation rentals are in the area, check out the interactive map below.
Where to eat in Cabo San Lucas with kids
Maro’s Shrimp House
The one restaurant we always visit when in Cabos is Maro’s Shrimp House. The owner is really friendly and the food is really good. As you can tell from the title, shrimp is their speciality and they do it well! This is one of the most popular restaurants in Cabo San Lucas and super family friendly.

Hacienda Cocina y Cantina
We also stopped in to the Hacienda Cocina y Cantina for lunch one day, and highly recommend it! This is one of our favorite restaurants in Cabo San Lucas with amazing ocean views. The food here is delicious and it’s a very family friendly Cabo restaurant. Save room for dessert, the churros here are amazing!

Tacos Gardenias
If you like authentic tacos, then you’ll find the best tacos in Cabo San Lucas at Tacos Gardenias. This is a small and very local restaurant with some amazing street tacos. We were skeptical about the cactus tacos, but they turned out to be very tasty!

Things to do in Cabo San Lucas with kids
If you’re looking for what to do in Cabo San Lucas with kids, you’re in luck! There are so many places to visit while here, you’ll likely have to come back to do them all. Here are some of the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas with kids.
Explore downtown Cabo San Lucas
One of the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas is to explore the downtown area. Filled with lots of shops and restaurants, it’s a great way to spend a few hours. We have done this on all 3 of our trips and always felt safe.
Go on a boat tour
A fun kid friendly activity in Cabo San Lucas is to go on a family friendly boat tour. The boat tour will take you to one of Cabo’s famous landmarks-El Arco. You can usually get a boat the day of if it’s not peak tourist season, but we wanted a private tour so we booked ahead of time.

Go on a pirate ship dinner and show boat tour
Do your kids like pirates? Then take them on a boat tour where they will see a pirate show while eating dinner! There are multiple companies offering pirate boat tours with scavenger hunts and interactive shows which are sure to excite your kids.
Day trip to Todos Santos
On one of our days, did a day trip to Todos Santos, which is about an hour north of Cabos and home to the famous Hotel California (which was under construction when we went!). This is one of the best things to do in Cabo San Lucas with kids. The downtown area is super cute to explore and it’s a nice break from hanging out at the hotel.

We had lunch at Los Adobes de Todos Santos and it was great! They gave the kids a bucket of blocks to play with while they waited for the food to come out, which was a nice touch.

Check out San Jose del Cabo
Another fun thing to do while visiting Cabo is visiting San Jose del Cabo, which has a really cute downtown area. It’s super cute here and we felt like it was a much more authentic experience than the Cabo downtown. Be sure to stop in for a popsicle at one of the vendors!

As you can see, Cabo San Lucas is definitely a very kid-friendly destination. Rent a car and explore the area, don’t just stay in your hotel. There are so many good restaurants in the area and it’s really easy to get around. We will definitely be back for a quick weekend getaway.
Cabo San Lucas is more than just a romantic destination. It’s one of the best Mexican cities to visit with kids. Whether you’re hanging out at the resort pool, trying local cuisine or wandering downtown streets, Cabo San Lucas has something for kids of all ages. Want to read this later? Pin the image below.
